The Director-General and CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has received the Outstanding Performance in Public Service Award at the African Iconic Women Recognition Awards 2025.
The prestigious honour recognizes her exceptional leadership and transformative impact on Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem. Organizers of the award praised her for spearheading reforms that have positioned NIMC as a leading institution in Africa’s identity management sector.
Under her stewardship, NIMC has recorded major milestones, including a surge in National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment, the deployment of a secure and reliable identity database, and a 25/35% salary adjustment to boost staff welfare. Other achievements include enhanced data harmonization, capacity building, and improved collaboration with government agencies.
Her efforts are guided by a five-point agenda aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Mandate, fostering rapid advancements in digital identity infrastructure and service delivery.
In a statement, NIMC spokesman Dr. Kayode Adegoke encouraged Nigerians to embrace NIN Authentication (NINAuth)—a secure digital solution that allows individuals to control how and when their data is accessed.
“We congratulate Engr. (Dr.) Coker-Odusote on this well-deserved recognition,” the statement read. “Her achievements signal a new era of efficiency, security, and trust in Nigeria’s identity management system.”
