Troops neutralise 10 terrorists, recover weapons in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have recorded another major success in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in the North East, neutralising ten terrorists and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition during a recent operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.

The operation, conducted by Sector 1, 24 Task Force Brigade, followed the earlier neutralisation of over fifty terrorists at the Katarko axis, further consolidating recent military gains against insurgents in the region.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, the troops foiled an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis in a precision night operation. The fleeing insurgents were tracked and ambushed along the Dikwa–Marte road, leading to a fierce gun battle that forced them to retreat in disarray.

At dawn, the troops launched a clearance operation, confirming the neutralisation of ten terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds. A search of the area led to the recovery of significant arms and equipment.

Recovered items included five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally made guns, two fabricated pistols, five AK-47 magazines, a large quantity of 7.62mm and 7.62x54mm ammunition, and several boxes of cartridges. Other items seized were two motorcycles, two bicycles, a radio, a raincoat, a blanket, and assorted charms believed to have been used for protection by the terrorists.

The military attributed the success of the operation to the troops’ high level of tactical efficiency, coordination, and discipline, which prevented further infiltration into civilian-populated areas and disrupted terrorist logistics and supply routes.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining offensive operations to ensure peace and stability in the North East.

The public was urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts.
