TCN begins two-days maintenance at Fakun substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a scheduled maintenance exercise on the 150MVA 330/132/33kV Transformer TR1 at the Fakun Transmission Substation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs. the company said the maintenance began on March 4 and will conclude on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The exercise is scheduled to run daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

TCN explained that the intervention will enable its engineers to install the SERGI Fast Depressurization system, a transformer explosion and fire prevention technology designed to enhance operational safety and asset protection at the substation.

As a result of the maintenance, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity for onward distribution to customers in New Bussa, Kaiama, Wawa, Agwara and surrounding communities during the outage window.

The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience and assured that normal supply would resume upon completion of the maintenance.
