The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has assured the Nigerian Army of the support of the Benin Palace in strengthening ongoing military operations aimed at maintaining peace and security in Edo State.
According to Assistant Director Army Public Relations 4 Brigade Nigerian Army Benin City Captian Kennedy Anyanwu, the monarch gave the assurance when the Commander of the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ahmed Balogun, paid him a courtesy visit at the Royal Palace of Benin on March 4, 2026.
During the meeting, the revered traditional ruler commended the brigade commander and personnel of the Nigerian Army for their efforts in protecting law-abiding citizens across the state.
He also offered prayers for the continued safety and success of troops engaged in security operations.
The Oba acknowledged the military’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security and safeguard lives and property within the state, while suggesting that some military operations conducted in the area could be given codenames in the Benin language.
Earlier, Brigadier General Balogun said the visit formed part of his engagements with key stakeholders since assuming command of the 4 Brigade several months ago.
He explained that he considered it important to formally introduce himself to the monarch and seek his royal blessings and prayers.
According to him, the goodwill and collaboration of the Benin throne would further enhance the brigade’s efforts in fulfilling its mandate of maintaining peace and security in the state.
Balogun reaffirmed the brigade’s zero-tolerance stance against insecurity, noting that the formation remained prepared to respond decisively to any threat to public safety.
The visit concluded with a special prayer and blessing session conducted by the Oba in support of the brigade commander as he continues to discharge his duties.
