EFCC denounces false report by Sahara Reporters regarding raid at KWASU

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a statement refuting a false report published by Sahara Reporters alleging a raid by EFCC and NDLEA operatives at Kwara State University hostels. The EFCC clarified that no such operation took place on February 22, 2024, as claimed by the online news platform.

According to the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Command, there was no joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Kwara State University on the mentioned date. The Commission confirmed that their only operation occurred a day earlier, during which 48 students were apprehended. This operation was conducted professionally and without any incident, with no involvement from any other agency.

The EFCC cautioned the public against falling for fabricated stories aimed at distorting the Commission’s activities or sowing discord. It reaffirmed its commitment to combatting economic and financial crimes in Nigeria, emphasizing that it remains undeterred by attempts at misinformation or blackmail.

The public is urged to verify information and refrain from spreading false narratives regarding the EFCC’s operations.
