Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, the Executive Vice President of Gas, Power, and New Energy at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. During a Panel Session hosted by NNPC Ltd. at the prestigious 2024 CERAWeek Conference in Houston, United States, Mr. Ogunleye articulated these essential drivers of change. The session, themed “Africa’s Energy Future: Access, Investment & Sustainability,” provided a platform for discussing NNPC Ltd.’s strategic initiatives under the leadership of Mr. Mele Kyari.

Mr. Ogunleye highlighted NNPC Ltd.’s adoption of modern technology as a cornerstone of its operational strategies, yielding significant value and enhancing competitiveness on a global scale. He emphasized that since the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in 2021, NNPC Ltd. has transitioned into an integrated commercial entity, prioritizing transparency and accountability—a crucial foundation for its anticipated Initial Public Offer (IPO).

Reflecting on the Company’s recent endeavors, Mr. Ogunleye affirmed NNPC Ltd.’s unwavering commitment to upholding rigorous standards of transparency, accountability, and performance excellence. He emphasized the commercial significance of these values, citing their capacity to enhance partnerships and attract potential investors—a pivotal aspect of the forthcoming IPO.

Mr. Ogunleye projected an optimistic outlook for NNPC Ltd.’s future, underscoring its pivotal role as Africa’s leading energy company, endowed with vast resources and commanding a sizable market share. He reaffirmed the Company’s dedication to shareholder value creation by continually refining its processes in alignment with global benchmarks.

Furthermore, Mr. Ogunleye emphasized the pivotal role of gas in Africa’s economic development trajectory, emphasizing its potential to drive industrialization and elevate living standards across the continent. He urged stakeholders within the energy sector to advocate for gas as a primary energy source, positioning it as a catalyst for economic growth and sustainable development.

Highlighting NNPC Ltd.’s proactive stance on gas commercialization and flare elimination, Mr. Ogunleye reiterated the Company’s commitment to spearheading Nigeria’s gas development agenda.
