Army, NSA’s office rescue 17 abducted Tsangaya children, one lady in Sokoto

In a successful collaborative effort between the Nigerian Army and the Office of the National Security Adviser, seventeen Tsangaya pupils who were abducted by bandits in Gada local Government approximately two weeks ago have been successfully rescued.

According to a statement by the Press Secretary to the Sokoto State Governor, Abubakar Bawa, the rescued children, along with a lady, were presented to Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, by the military. Governor Ahmed Aliyu expressed his gratitude during a brief ceremony held to receive the rescued victims, commending both the Military and the Office of the National Security Adviser for their effective efforts in rescuing the abducted children.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu further disclosed that all the rescued children underwent medical examinations to determine their health status. “All the children have been found to be in good health and are now prepared to be reunited with their parents,” he stated.

Additionally, Governor Aliyu announced a donation of two bags of grains and N100,000 to each of the rescued abductees, while urging the people of the state to continue supporting the present administration in its endeavors to fully secure the State.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation with security operatives, particularly in gathering credible intelligence, Governor Aliyu emphasized the necessity to prevent banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

In a separate address, the Garrison Commander of 8 Division Nigerian Army Sokoto, Gen. Tawasimi, commended the State Governor for his unwavering support to the Military, especially in the task of combating banditry. He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring the security of Sokoto State and appealed for continued support from the public.
