The Ibadan Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the apprehension of twenty individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud within Oyo State. This operation, conducted by EFCC operatives, culminated in the arrest of the alleged perpetrators on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in the Akobo area of Ibadan. The intervention was prompted by actionable intelligence regarding their illicit online activities.
During the operation, law enforcement confiscated various items believed to be associated with fraudulent activities, including ten high-end vehicles, twelve laptops, forty-one mobile phones, a PlayStation 5, a television set, and assorted incriminating documents.
Upon the completion of thorough investigations, the apprehended individuals will be formally charged in court.
