In a series of meticulously executed operations, military units deployed for counter-terrorism endeavors in the North West and North Central regions achieved significant successes on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
In Sokoto State, responding to actionable intelligence, troops conducted a targeted ambush on a notorious terrorist group near Sarma village in Tangaza Local Government Area. Engaging in a firefight, the troops successfully neutralized the group’s ringleader and seized a cache of weaponry, including an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, along with seven rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, and a motorcycle.
Concurrently, in a commendable display of vigilance, troops thwarted a kidnapping endeavor upon receiving a distress call regarding such activities along Kasu village road, within the Kafanchan District of Jema’a Local Government Area in Kaduna State. Subsequently, two suspected kidnappers were apprehended, and a confiscated cache included a fabricated rifle, two rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, one cartridge, and a motorcycle.
Moreover, in a separate operation, troops swiftly neutralized an alleged armed robber at Kaskara Check Point in response to reports of robbery incidents around UTC (TENTI) Junction in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The swift action resulted in the elimination of one perpetrator, with seized items including a locally manufactured firearm and assorted weaponry.
