A series of highly successful counter-terrorism operations conducted by Nigerian troops have dealt significant blows to terrorist groups, resulting in the rescue of numerous kidnap victims and the voluntary surrender of a notorious militant.
In the North Central region, troops engaged in the search and rescue mission for abducted students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology in Osara, Kogi State, collaborated with other security agencies and local vigilantes. A fierce firefight ensued in the vicinity of the Osara Forests and nearby areas, with the troops’ superior firepower leading to the abandonment and subsequent rescue of nine of the kidnapped students.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in the North West of Zamfara State, troops swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the abduction of two locals by violent extremists in Danzara Village, Kanoma District, within the Maru Local Government Area. Pursuing the extremists who had seized the victims in a red Golf car, the troops forced the kidnappers to flee, leaving the hostages unharmed.
Similarly, proactive efforts by troops in Katsina State thwarted an abduction attempt in the Solar General Area of Batsari Local Government Area. Engaging the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, the troops compelled them to abandon 17 kidnap victims, who were subsequently returned safely to the care of Batsari Local Government officials.
In a significant development in the Northeastern State of Borno, a notorious member of the Boko Haram Terrorists identified as Alhaji Wosai voluntarily surrendered to troops operating within Garno Village, in Dikwa Local Government Area. Wosai handed over his AK-47 rifle and a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition.
These operations underscore the unwavering commitment of Nigerian Army troops to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. Their relentless resolve in addressing the threat posed by terrorists and kidnappers reflects their dedication to restoring peace and stability in the affected regions.
