Despite past efforts by the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assemblies to reform local government administration through constitutional amendments, success has been elusive. However, there is growing consensus that a comprehensive approach addressing the root causes of insecurity and optimizing fiscal federalism is essential.

In alignment with its Legislative Agenda on “Strengthening Good Governance (Agenda One)” and “Law Reforms (Agenda Three),” the 10th House of Representatives recognizes the importance of Nigeria’s Local Government system and the need for legislative attention.

The one-day Public Policy Dialogue is organized by the House Committee on Public Sector Institutions Reforms in collaboration with the Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, and the FCDO Partnership to Engage, Reform, and Learn’s Engaged Citizen Pillar.
