Troops eliminate terrorists, rescue hostages in Borno

In a series of coordinated counter-terrorism operations, troops in the North East, supported by Vigilante and Hybrid Forces, have made significant progress against terrorist activities in Borno State. These operations have led to the elimination of terrorists, rescue of hostages, and recovery of arms and other items.

In Gwoza Local Government Area (LGA), troops executed ambush operations in Pulka and Ashagashiya, neutralizing one terrorist and causing others to flee. Seven women and nine children were rescued, and items recovered included a submachine gun (SMG), bicycles, blankets, and cooking utensils.

Similarly, in the Komala area, troops neutralized one terrorist and recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other weapons.

In Benue State, troops responded to intelligence on terrorist movements in Ayati Village, Ukum LGA. The terrorists fled, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle, Dane gun, launchers, ammunition, and assorted arms.

In Kogi State, troops thwarted a planned ransom payment to kidnappers in Okunran Okoloke. One kidnapper was neutralized, and an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle were recovered.

These operations highlight the resilience and dedication of the troops in addressing security challenges across the country.
