The Nigeria Police Force has condemned the unprofessional conduct of its officers seen in a viral video performing guard duties for a young man and encouraging him to abuse the naira, a violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act.
In a statement, by Force Spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobithe, the Police denounced the video, calling it unethical and demeaning to both the officers involved and the force as a whole. The Police are actively working to identify the officers in the video for appropriate disciplinary action. Additionally, the young man featured in the video has been asked to present himself to the nearest Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department or contact the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja for questioning.
The Police expressed gratitude to the public for bringing the incident to their attention and assured that corrective and punitive measures will be thoroughly pursued.
