Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder conducts education rhapsody in Rivers

Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, under the command of Commodore DOC Igbo, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024conducted an Educational Rhapsody in the Rumuolumeni kingdom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. This initiative is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility and non-kinetic efforts of Operation Delta Sanity.

The Educational Rhapsody aimed to support and enhance the educational resources available to local primary schools. Three primary schools in the Rumuolumeni kingdom benefited from this exercise, with the Nigerian Navy distributing over 9,500 exercise books, drawing books, and writing materials. This generous contribution is expected to significantly aid the students in their academic pursuits, providing them with essential supplies for their education.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including the Natural Ruler of Rumuolumeni Community, His Royal Highness King (Engr.) Chukwuemeka V. E. N. Woji Okocha. His presence underscored the importance of the initiative to the local community and highlighted the collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and community leaders. The Community Development Chairman, along with other community members and stakeholders, also attended, showing strong local support and appreciation for the Nigerian Navy’s efforts.

Commander Commodore DOC Igbo emphasized the importance of education in his speech, noting that the Nigerian Navy is committed to contributing positively to the communities within their operational areas. He highlighted that such initiatives are crucial in building strong relationships between the military and civilian populations, fostering goodwill, and ensuring that the Navy’s presence brings tangible benefits to local communities.

The Educational Rhapsody is part of the broader Operation Delta Sanity, which aims to promote stability and development in the Niger Delta region through both kinetic and non-kinetic means. By addressing educational needs, the Nigerian Navy seeks to support the long-term development of the region, providing children with the tools they need to succeed and thereby contributing to the overall peace and prosperity of the area.

The event concluded with a symbolic handing over of the educational materials to the school representatives, who expressed their gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for their support. The students and teachers were visibly excited and appreciative, looking forward to making the most of the new resources provided to them.
