The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convened its 588th meeting on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, to address issues concerning the upcoming September 21 Governorship election in Edo State. Among the agenda items was a review of complaints regarding the conduct of Chief Dan Orbih, the National Vice Chairman (South South).
Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, stated that the NWC unanimously condemned Chief Orbih’s actions and statements related to the Edo State Governorship Primary Election. These actions were found to be inconsistent with the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and the responsibilities of his national office.
Consequently, the NWC has formed a six-member investigation committee, chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, to investigate the matter according to party provisions. During this investigation, Chief Orbih has been suspended from all NWC meetings, activities, and programs.
The NWC expressed gratitude for the support from the citizens of Edo State who are rallying behind the PDP and its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo. They highlighted that Dr. Ighodalo’s vision aligns with the aspirations for continued development in the state under PDP leadership.
The NWC called on all party leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to remain united and focused on achieving victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
