The Zone 7 of Nigeria Police Command, which oversees the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State, has made significant arrests in a crackdown on crime in the Capital Territory.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Zone 7 Command Headquarters, Abuja DSP M.B Abdulkadir acting on intelligence, police arrested four suspects: Solomon Nuhu (22), Faruk Umar (17), Bolaji Yusuf (34), and Lawal Yusuf (38). They face charges including Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery, Murder, Possession of Stolen Vehicles, and Unlawful Possession of a Prohibited Firearm.
The Special Investigation Squad at Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, apprehended Haruna Akubo, also known as “Young Alhaji.” Five suspected stolen vehicles were recovered from L.Y Nadabo Motors in Karu, Nasarawa State. Bolaji Yusuf and Abubakar Umar were also arrested at Heart Plaza, Maraba, with two vehicle master keys, three stolen phones, and a bunch of car keys found in Bolaji’s possession.
Investigations led to the recovery of 32 mobile phones, a 9mm Beretta pistol, and live ammunition from Faruk Umar. The pistol was reportedly sold to Solomon Nuhu for N130,000. Further investigations traced more stolen vehicles to Ankpa, Kogi State, including a Lexus IS 250, allegedly taken in a violent incident resulting in the owner’s death. The suspected killer, Ibrahim Umar, also known as “Godiya,” remains at large.
A total of ten vehicles with altered chassis numbers, a fabricated Beretta pistol, three laptops, an LG TV, two POS machines, 13 used SIM cards, 14 packs of SIM cards, and other phone accessories were recovered.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police AIG Ogundele J. Ayodeji has ordered a thorough investigation, with the suspects to be charged in court. He urged FCT residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, reassuring the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
