FG promotes 79 top management officers, as Tunji-Ojo decorates three NSCDC deputy commandant generals

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has urged newly promoted senior management staff in the Ministry’s four paramilitary agencies to enhance their efficiency and innovative skills to bolster the nation’s internal security system. Dr. Tunji-Ojo made this call during a decoration ceremony at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters in Abuja.

According to National PRO NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja CSC Babawale Zaid Afolabi, at the event, Deputy Comptroller Generals and Deputy Commandant Generals from the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were elevated to their new ranks. The Minister assured federal government support under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing that promotions are based on merit, seniority, vacancy availability, and performance evaluation.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the end of career stagnation, lamenting past situations where officers suffered due to lack of connections or godfathers. He noted the introduction of incentives for serving personnel and retirement benefits as part of the government’s efforts to motivate workers.

He commended the NSCDC for its role in protecting the nation’s critical assets and infrastructure, stating that the Corps is becoming more robust, efficient, and professional in its duties.

Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB), CG Ahmed Ja’afaru (OFR, Rtd), praised the Board’s independence from the Office of the Head of Service. He noted the successful and hitch-free 2023 promotion exercise and expressed confidence in replicating the same success in 2024. Seventy-nine senior officers participated in the exercise, resulting in promotions across the various services.

Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, DCGI George Chamlong Didel, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and pledged continuous loyalty and dedicated service on behalf of the newly promoted officers.

NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, tasked the newly decorated Deputy Commandants General to mentor their subordinates and uphold loyalty and dedication to duty. He charged them to honor their new positions through their conduct.

The Director of Legal Services, Barr Umar Aliyu Mohammed, administered the Oath of Office to the three newly promoted NSCDC management officers: DCG Pedro Awili Ideba, DCG Mohammed Lawal Haruna, and DCG Philip Ayuba. DCG Pedro, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, expressed joy and pledged support for the ongoing reforms under the Commandant General’s leadership.
