On Monday, August 12, 2024, Major General Abdullahi Maikano, President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), paid a courtesy visit to Major General Ishola Williams (retired), the esteemed founder of OSMA. Accompanied by Air Vice Marshal T.A. Marquez, Director of Defense Sports at the Defense Headquarters, the visit was a gesture of respect and recognition of Major General Williams’ pioneering role in the establishment of OSMA.
During the meeting, Major General Maikano, who also serves as the Vice President for Africa at the International Military Sports Council (CISM), expressed deep appreciation for Major General Williams’ contributions to the advancement of military sports across the continent. He praised Williams’ vision and leadership, which have been instrumental in fostering sportsmanship and camaraderie among African military forces.
