Troops arrest notorious bandit, rescue kidnap victims, and recover arms

In a decisive crackdown on terrorism, Nigerian Army troops have captured a notorious bandit leader, rescued several kidnapped victims, and seized arms and logistics used by the criminals in operations across the country.

According to Nigerian Army INFO, on September 11, 2024, troops in Plateau State, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended a wanted terrorist kingpin, Mallam Husseini Usman, in Ganawuri village, Riyom Local Government Area. Usman confessed to orchestrating multiple deadly attacks in the state, including a recent assault on Ganawuri village that resulted in four fatalities.

He also admitted his involvement in a kidnapping syndicate responsible for the abduction of two individuals. In a separate operation, the same troops swiftly rescued two kidnap victims in Kyaram village, Kanam Local Government Area, thwarting another abduction attempt.

In Borno State, troops ambushed terrorists moving from Sambisa Forest to the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area. After a fierce gunfight, two terrorists were neutralized.

In Kaduna State’s Birnin Gwari area, troops raided a terrorist hideout in Gobarawa Forest, forcing the criminals to flee. During the operation, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and five motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

The Chief of Army Staff has commended the troops for their dedication and urged them to maintain the offensive operations to eradicate terrorists and criminal elements from their hideouts.
