The Headquarters of 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), has expressed concern over a misleading report published by Eastwestreporters.com regarding the state of the Army Children Model School in Port Harcourt. The Division described the publication as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Army’s image, labeling it “institutional blackmail.”
In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the Army clarified that the school in question, located in GRA 2, Port Harcourt, is not owned or run by the Nigerian Army, but rather by the Rivers State Government. The publication’s failure to mention this fact was seen as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
Danjuma also emphasized that the school’s correct name is Army Children Model School GRA 2, Port Harcourt, not “Army Children School,” as falsely reported. He urged the public to disregard the misinformation and advised media outlets to verify their facts before releasing unsubstantiated claims.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality education through its numerous schools nationwide, which are managed by the Nigerian Army Education Corps. These schools, known for their excellent facilities and top-tier teaching staff, have consistently produced outstanding results.
The statement concluded with a call for media platforms to avoid spreading falsehoods and to prioritize accuracy in their reporting, while assuring the public of the Army’s dedication to its responsibilities.
