As Muslim faithful across Nigeria mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has assured citizens of comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and secure environment throughout the 2024 Eid-el-Maulud celebrations.
In a statement from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP directed Command Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) to deploy personnel and resources strategically in high-risk areas. These include major highways, places of worship, and public gathering points, all aimed at preventing crime and maintaining public safety during the festivities.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding citizens during and after the celebration, collaborating with other security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure an incident-free period nationwide.
The IGP extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful, wishing them a joyful and harmonious Eid-el-Maulud, and emphasized the importance of unity and peace during the celebration.
Signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the statement reflects the police’s resolve to ensure a secure environment for all citizens during this important religious occasion.
