The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Olukayode Adeolu, has commended Nigeria Police Force personnel and other security agencies for their professional conduct during the recently concluded Edo State governorship elections. He lauded their discipline, neutrality, and dedication to maintaining law and order, which contributed to the peaceful and successful electoral process.
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the IGP also expressed gratitude to the people of Edo State for their patience, resilience, and adherence to democratic values throughout the election. He urged them to remain calm and vigilant as the electoral process concludes.
He said as part of continued security efforts, the IGP has directed that tactical squads and intelligence teams remain deployed in Edo to ensure stability and public safety in the state. He also assured the public of the police’s ongoing commitment to upholding security and protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic processes.
In a related development, the IGP extended condolences to the Kano State Police Command and the families of five officers who tragically lost their lives in a road accident while returning from election duty in Edo. The accident occurred at Karfi village, along the Zaria-Kano Expressway. The IGP prayed for the souls of the deceased and offered his sympathies to their families.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety of the public, upholding justice, and maintaining the integrity of the country’s electoral system.
