NFF approves Eguavoen as Super Eagles head coach for AFCON qualifiers, Madugu takes over Super Falcons

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has endorsed the continuation of Coach Augustine Eguavoen as Head Coach of the Super Eagles, following a recommendation by its Technical and Development Sub-Committee. Eguavoen will lead the team in next month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Libya.

The 58-year-old coach, in his fourth stint with the national team, recently guided the Super Eagles to a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic and a scoreless draw against Rwanda during the opening rounds of qualification earlier this month.

In addition to his role with the Super Eagles, Eguavoen, along with assistants Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa, and Tomaz Zorec, will also oversee the Super Eagles B team’s campaign for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

In another decision, the NFF approved the recommendation to appoint Coach Justin Madugu as interim coach of the Super Falcons, following the exit of Randy Waldrum. Madugu will head the technical crew until a permanent coach is named. The Super Falcons are gearing up for their next major competition, the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
