In a string of decisive operations, the Nigerian Army has struck another blow against terrorist factions, neutralizing key fighters and recovering a significant arsenal, including rocket bombs and ammunition, further diminishing their capabilities.
On September 29, 2024, a high-intensity raid targeted Boko Haram/ISWAP strongholds in Ajiri and Mastari villages of Bama LGA, Borno State. Troops, wielding superior firepower, killed four notorious fighters. Recovered items included 2 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs, 2 AK-47 magazines, 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62x54mm machine gun rounds, and a machine gun barrel. Another encounter at Banki Junction saw the neutralization of another terrorist.
In Plateau State, soldiers captured kidnappers Isah Abdullahi (24) and Mujahid Musa (23) after a raid in Panyam mountains. Evidence linked them to violent attacks in Mangu LGA. Recovered items included motorcycles and mobile phones. Separately, troops apprehended arms dealer Kabiru Zaki in Bukuru town, Jos South LGA, alongside another suspect tied to a recent murder in Bassa LGA.
In southeastern Nigeria, soldiers repelled IPOB/ESN militants in Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, after an attempted ambush. The terrorists retreated, leaving behind explosive materials and surveillance equipment. Troops also thwarted an abduction attempt along the Gurbi-Jibia road in Katsina State, rescuing four victims.
The Chief of Army Staff has reiterated the directive for sustained pressure on all fronts, ensuring the complete eradication of terrorist elements and restoration of peace across Nigeria.
