In her lecture, titled “Diaspora Engagements for National Development,” Dabiri-Erewa highlighted the potential of diaspora contributions, urging Nigerians abroad to actively support government initiatives and efforts towards sustainable development. She noted that Nigerians must unite, stating, “We will go far and fast if we all unite with a single purpose to develop Nigeria.”
She encouraged leveraging the global exposure of diaspora Nigerians as a catalyst for national progress, drawing parallels to how countries like India, China, and Singapore have benefitted from their diaspora communities. She also proposed collaboration with universities, including staff and student exchanges and joint research initiatives that address global challenges.
Impressed by ABUAD’s facilities, Dabiri-Erewa praised its founder, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, for his commitment to education and development in Nigeria.
Aare Afe Babalola also expressed pride in Nigeria’s potential, urging Nigerians to remain focused on national growth and avoid unnecessary migration. He highlighted ABUAD’s 15 years of impactful contributions to the nation’s education and health sectors.
