NNPC joins ECOWAS ministers to advance African Atlantic gas pipeline project

NNPC Ltd. participated in a pivotal meeting of ECOWAS Ministers of Energy and Hydrocarbons, joined by Morocco and Mauritania, held today at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja. Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), emphasized the potential of the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline (AAGP) to unify Africa’s energy infrastructure and drive economic growth across the continent.

Representing NNPC’s Group CEO, Mele Kyari, was Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President of Gas, Power, and New Energy. Ogunleye reaffirmed NNPC’s dedication to the AAGP, underscoring its role in strengthening Africa’s energy landscape. Key agreements for the pipeline, including the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) and Host Government Agreement (HGA), made progress, marking an essential step toward a resilient and interconnected energy future for Africa.

NNPC is set to leverage its expertise in gas infrastructure to lead the AAGP, in collaboration with regional partners, in support of sustainable development across the region.
