Okpebholo suspends revenue collection, orders arrest of defaulters

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced an immediate and indefinite suspension of all revenue collections across the state, particularly in motor parks and related areas, until further notice.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua confirmed the development on Wednesday. He said no individual or entity is currently authorized to collect state revenues, with enforcement strictly mandated by the police.

In a directive aimed at ensuring compliance, Governor Okpebholo has instructed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to arrest any individuals or groups attempting to collect revenue on behalf of the state during this suspension. The governor stated that he will carefully review the issues surrounding these collections and provide an updated policy soon.

“The collection of revenues in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the state government will be arrested,” Governor Okpebholo stated.
