US AFRICOM commander commends Nigeria’s strategy in addressing insecurity

General Michael Langley, Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), visited Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement, Director Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said during the visit, General Langley praised Nigeria’s approach to tackling insecurity and highlighted the country’s vital role in maintaining stability within the West African region. He also congratulated General Musa on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Committee of ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff.

In response, General Musa expressed gratitude for the AFRICOM Commander’s visit, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to collaborative efforts with regional allies to combat terrorism and other forms of crime. He also emphasized Nigeria’s interest in strengthening defense ties with the United States, especially in training, intelligence sharing, and improving access to essential military platforms.

General Langley was joined by the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Mills, on his visit to the Defence Headquarters.
