Korean Ambassador commends EFCC’s anti-corruption efforts

The Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Pankyu, has applauded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its steadfast commitment to combating corruption and financial crimes in the country.

Ambassador Pankyu made the remarks during a courtesy visit on Thursday, November 21, 2024, to the Lagos Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, where he met with Acting Director Michael T. Wetkas.

In his address, the ambassador acknowledged the significant contributions of the EFCC in creating a secure environment for businesses and expressed optimism about increased Korean investments in Nigeria. “Many Korean businessmen are eager to invest in the country, and I urge the EFCC to continue fostering a secure environment for investors,” Pankyu stated.

Responding, Wetkas assured the delegation of the EFCC’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a conducive business environment. “The EFCC’s primary objective is to guarantee a secure platform for local and foreign businesses to thrive,” he said. Wetkas also pledged support for Korean investors, emphasizing the Commission’s dedication to addressing challenges faced by businesses in Nigeria.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing hope for a strengthened partnership between the EFCC and the Korean Embassy to enhance investment opportunities and economic collaboration.
