FRSC Corps Marshal strengthens stakeholder collaboration to curb tanker crashes

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intensified efforts to address the rising incidence of tanker crashes in Nigeria with a strategic visit to the national headquarters of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG-PTD) in Abuja.

According to Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC Headquarters, Abuja Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the visit precedes an upcoming critical stakeholders’ meeting aimed at developing sustainable solutions to road safety challenges in the haulage sector.

During the engagement, the Corps Marshal emphasized the need for stronger collaboration, particularly in training and retraining tanker drivers and ensuring compliance with minimum safety standards in petroleum haulage operations.

National Chairman of NUPENG-PTD, Comrade Augustine Egbon, commended the FRSC’s proactive approach and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to enhancing road safety through mass media sensitization and other joint initiatives.

Senior officials from both the FRSC and NUPENG-PTD attended the meeting, including Deputy National Chairman Alhaji Shuaibu Leba, National Trustee Otunba Salmon Akanni Oladiti, and other union executives.
