The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has commended President Bola Tinubu for signing into law the bill establishing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its Chairman, Isaac Abrak, the group described the decision as a significant step toward equitable development, national unity, and the progress of the North Central region.
“For too long, the North Central region has grappled with developmental challenges, including poor infrastructure, economic decline, and insecurity. The NCDC offers a crucial opportunity to address these issues and pave the way for sustainable growth,” the statement noted.
The group emphasized that the success of the NCDC hinges on appointing competent and patriotic individuals to its leadership. “Only qualified individuals, deeply familiar with the region’s challenges and committed to its development, should be entrusted with managing the commission,” the statement added.
NCYP urged President Tinubu and relevant authorities to ensure adequate funding and efficient management of the NCDC, stressing that resources must be safeguarded against mismanagement and corruption. “The agency must drive real progress and not become another bureaucratic institution failing to deliver on its mandate,” it stated.
The group also commended the National Assembly, state governors, and other stakeholders for their roles in passing the bill. Pledging its support for initiatives that promote regional and national growth, NCYP reiterated its appreciation to President Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to inclusive development.
