FRSC mobilizes nationwide for Safe Eid-el-Fitri travel

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a nationwide deployment of personnel and resources to ensure smooth and safe road travel during the 2025 Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.

According to Corps Public Education Officer Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, Abuja Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the special operation will run from March 27 to April 2, 2025, targeting the reduction of road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries.

The FRSC’s objectives include strict enforcement of traffic laws, prompt response to emergencies, and quick removal of obstructions. The Corps will deploy 157 administrative vehicles, 754 patrol vehicles, 143 ambulances, and 48 tow trucks. Additionally, radar guns will be used to check speeding, and 16 traffic control camps will be set up along key routes, with officers stationed on 53 critical corridors nationwide.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed directed full mobilization of 23 Help Areas, 59 Emergency Ambulance (Zebra) Points, and Roadside Clinics. Operations will run in shifts from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with night rescue teams on standby. High-traffic routes, including Abuja-Kaduna-Kano, Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Birnin Kebbi, Ibadan-Ogere-Sagamu, and Asaba-Abraka-Ughelli-Warri corridors, will be closely monitored.

Key enforcement targets include excessive speed, overloading, dangerous driving, lane violations, use of phones while driving, and seatbelt violations. Mobile courts will be set up nationwide to handle traffic violations promptly.

The Corps Marshal emphasized the importance of early intervention, noting that increased traffic volume, impatience, and poorly maintained vehicles often cause crashes and congestion during festive periods. He urged motorists to use the FRSC mobile app for real-time updates and report issues via the toll-free line 122 or the National Traffic Radio hotlines: 08052997848 and 09139600107.

The FRSC is coordinating with the Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, DSS, military units, and other emergency services to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience for all road users.
