In a major stride against criminal activities in Taraba State, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have neutralized three bandits, destroyed multiple camps, and recovered arms and ammunition during a clearance operation conducted on 5 April 2025 in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
In a statement, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Captain Olubodunde Oni said the operation, part of the ongoing military campaign Operation LAFIYA JAMAA, targeted known bandit hideouts in Achalle and Chibi. Upon arrival in Chibi, troops encountered resistance but quickly gained the upper hand, neutralizing three fleeing bandits. Several makeshift camps were also destroyed during the engagement.

Recovered items included two motorcycles, one AK-47 magazine, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
In a continued effort to sanitize the region, troops also combed the Dutsen Zaki and Achalle axis—areas where over 70 criminal camps have been dismantled in recent weeks. No signs of human activity were found during the latest sweep, underscoring the effectiveness of sustained operations in the area.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their resilience and assured residents of the army’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security in Taraba State. He urged citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
He emphasized that community cooperation remains critical to the success of ongoing military efforts.
