Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, joined other African leaders and stakeholders in Nairobi, Kenya, this evening for the opening of the inaugural CGIAR Science Week.
The event, which focuses on harnessing innovation and technology to advance food sustainability and promote a healthier future for Africa, brought together key voices in agriculture and policy.
Speaking during the high-level panel session titled “Council of the Wise”, Dr. Jonathan highlighted the critical role of science and innovation in transforming agriculture and combating hunger across the continent. He stressed, however, that progress in these areas must be underpinned by strong political will to ensure effective policy development and implementation.
He noted that without committed leadership and governance, even the most advanced scientific solutions may fail to deliver tangible results for African communities.
