NEMA supports de-radicalization efforts with relief supplies

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered relief materials to the Federal Government’s De-radicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) programme under Operation Safe Corridor, reinforcing efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate repentant ex-combatants.

The initiative is a key component of Nigeria’s non-kinetic strategy to combat insecurity by providing psychological counseling, vocational training, and support for societal reintegration.

The relief consignment, presented at the rehabilitation facility in Gombe State, includes food and non-food items such as bags of rice and maize, vegetable oil, seasoning, towels, guinea brocade fabrics, and men’s clothing.

NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar—represented by the Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Abang Oyong—officially handed over the items to Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, Commander of Operation Safe Corridor.

Mrs. Umar reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to supporting the DRR programme, describing the delivery as a response to a formal request from the camp leadership and a reflection of the agency’s role in promoting peace and national stability.

Brigadier General Ali expressed appreciation for the continued partnership, noting that NEMA’s support has been instrumental in maintaining the momentum of the rehabilitation process and ensuring the well-being of participants.
