Tinubu embarks on two-day official visit to Katsina

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Friday, May 2, 2025, for a two-day official visit to Katsina State, where he is expected to engage with key stakeholders, assess ongoing development initiatives, and review the security situation in the region.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the visit underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to deepening collaboration with subnational governments in addressing pressing developmental and security challenges.

During his stay, President Tinubu will commission two landmark projects executed under the administration of Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda. The first is the Katsina Agricultural Mechanization Centre, a facility designed to boost agricultural productivity by providing modern farming equipment, training, and technical support to farmers across the state. The initiative is part of efforts to modernize Katsina’s agricultural sector and improve food security, not only in the state but in the wider northern region.

The second project slated for commissioning is a newly completed 24-kilometre dual carriageway, which is expected to ease transportation, facilitate trade, and enhance connectivity between Katsina city and surrounding communities. The road infrastructure project is seen as a significant step towards boosting economic activities and improving the standard of living for residents.

In addition to the official engagements, President Tinubu is expected to attend the wedding ceremony of Governor Radda’s daughter, a private event that underscores the long-standing relationship between the President and the Katsina political leadership.

The visit also presents an opportunity for the President to hold strategic consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies on the security situation in the state, which has been impacted by incidents of banditry and other security challenges in recent years. These discussions are anticipated to inform ongoing federal efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Northwest region.

President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja at the conclusion of his engagements in Katsina on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
