The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is set to deliver the keynote lecture at the 2025 National Reunion Conference of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA).
The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, will take place at the renowned Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
In a joint statement, Professor Sirajudeen Obayopo, Chairman of the Planning Committee, and Ibrahim Fagbenro, Public Relations Officer, announced that Alhaji Adeniyi—an alumnus of the institution—will speak on the theme: “Cross-Border Trade and Security Implications on the Nigerian Economy: Taking Advantage of Global Trade Dynamics.”
The three-day conference, which runs from Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 11, 2025, promises a diverse programme of intellectual engagement, networking opportunities, and community-building activities.
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, who will serve as Special Guest of Honour; His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, as Royal Father of the Day; and Dr. Muritadha Adeyemi Adeniji, Managing Director/CEO of Starling Global and Ideal Limited, who will chair the occasion. The Host Vice-Chancellor is Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire.
Other distinguished guests include Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN); three UNIFEMGA members currently serving as Vice-Chancellors — Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN) of the University of Ilorin, Professor Musa Aibinu of Summit University, Offa, and Professor Akeem Lasisi of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, among others.
Conference activities will commence on Friday, May 9, with a Jumat service led by the Chief Imam of OAU, Professor Abubakar Sanusi, followed by a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor and a networking dinner featuring UNIFEMGA Investors’ Forum 2.0, hosted by Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, Chairman of the UNIFEMGA Board of Trustees and Pro-Chancellor of Summit University, Offa.
The Investors’ Forum, modelled after the popular television show Dragons’ Den, will offer entrepreneurs a platform to pitch their business ideas to prospective investors.
Additional highlights of the reunion include a welcome reception for delegates, student picnic, scholarship grant presentations, Annual General Meeting, student empowerment programmes, fitness exercises, and novelty matches between various branches.
Reflecting on the significance of this year’s reunion, UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, noted its alignment with the start of his tenure, expressing confidence that the conference will be both impactful and enriching for all participants.
With over 300 delegates—including members from the diaspora—already registered, the 2025 National Reunion Conference is poised to be a vibrant gathering of thought leaders and changemakers committed to unity and progress.
