The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Liman Shettima, OFR, NPM, mni, who died on July 5, 2025, at his residence in Jos, Plateau State.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to the deceased’s family, friends, and former colleagues.
AIG Shettima was a respected and dedicated officer who served the Force with distinction until his retirement on June 4, 1999. He held several key positions, including AIG in charge of Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar; Commissioner of Police in Katsina State Command; and CP Admin at the Police Academy (POLAC). His career was marked by integrity, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to professional policing and national development.
The IGP prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, while offering strength and comfort to his family during this time of grief.
