The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on violent crimes, cultism, kidnapping, and illegal arms trafficking through a series of intelligence-led operations across Edo, Delta, Katsina, and Adamawa States.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in Edo State, operatives rescued two kidnapped victims—Godday Irieude and Wisdom Emeka—who were abducted from their farm in Ewatto in the early hours of June 26, 2025. The police, in collaboration with local vigilantes, traced the kidnappers to their hideout. The suspects opened fire on sighting the operatives but were overpowered and fled with gunshot wounds, leaving the victims unharmed.
In Delta State, a raid on a residence in Mosogar led to the arrest of two suspected cultists, Koko Josh (29) and Asomugha Clinton (27), and the recovery of arms including a fabricated Baretta pistol, two locally made guns, eight live cartridges, mobile phones, and fetish items. Further investigation led to the arrest of two other suspected Aiye Confraternity members—Anthony Kelvin (26) and Gift Amotsuka (25).
Another operation in Okpanam area resulted in the arrest of Ekene Chroma (36) and Okafor Jonathan (18), found in possession of two English-made single-barrel guns and 110 live cartridges. Preliminary findings linked them to an illegal arms supply syndicate.
In Katsina State, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) arrested Yunusa Ishaku (40) with two stolen vehicles. He confessed to being part of a transnational vehicle theft ring operating in Abuja, Jos, and other cities, with stolen vehicles routed to Niger Republic. He also led officers to additional stolen vehicles in Zamfara and Bauchi States.
Meanwhile, in Adamawa State, FID-IRT operatives arrested a 52-year-old suspect, Alhaji Iya Bima, with an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 50 rounds of live ammunition. Further interrogation led to the recovery of another AK-47 rifle, three magazines, and an additional 50 rounds.
All suspects are currently in custody and will be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations and the dismantling of criminal networks. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
