Ex-EFCC Chair Farida Waziri remembers Buhari as a “Man of Integrity”

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mrs. Farida Waziri, has paid tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a man whose legacy of integrity and justice left a lasting impact on her life and the nation.

In a heartfelt message, Waziri said Buhari’s passing serves as a reminder that people are ultimately remembered for the values they upheld. She described him as a leader defined by discipline, incorruptibility, and a deep commitment to truth.

Reflecting on her personal experience, Waziri revealed that Buhari stood up for her when she was denied her rightful retirement rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police. “That act alone spoke volumes of his character: he recognised truth, and he acted on it,” she stated.

She hailed Buhari’s lifelong commitment to the anti-corruption fight, both as a military ruler and a civilian president, noting that he remained consistent in promoting integrity in public service.

“May history remember him kindly—as a soldier, a statesman, and above all, a man of integrity. May his soul find peaceful repose,” she concluded.
