Tinubu extends Customs CG Adeniyi’s tenure by one year

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, whose tenure was initially set to end on August 31, 2025.

The decision, announced by Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, is aimed at allowing Mr. Adeniyi to consolidate key reforms and complete strategic initiatives under the current administration. These include the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.

President Tinubu commended Adeniyi’s leadership and dedication to service, expressing confidence that the extension will further enhance the Customs Service’s capacity in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
