The Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on Saturday laid the foundation for the Nigerian Army Special Forces School (NASFS) in Doma, Nasarawa State, describing it as “a legacy of excellence, bravery and sacrifice” that will redefine the training of Nigeria’s elite troops.
According to Acting Director, Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Appolonia Anele, the project is aimed at producing highly skilled personnel capable of mastering complex and unconventional battlefields, marking a strategic boost to the Army’s combat capabilities and national security.
The NASFS was originally established in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, as part of the Army’s response to evolving security threats. With its relocation to Doma, the Buni Yadi facility will now function as the Nigerian Army Acclimatization Center, focused on preparing troops for operations in the North East.

In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Oluyede pledged to deliver world-class training and equipment, stressing that Nigeria’s Special Forces will remain “unconquerable” and comparable to their global counterparts.
As part of the ceremony, the CoAS also inaugurated the 4 Special Forces Command Headquarters and a new Officers’ Mess, complete with operational offices, conference facilities, and recreational amenities to improve capacity, welfare, and morale of personnel.
Earlier in Lafia, he paid a courtesy call on Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who commended the Army’s role in ensuring stability, which has allowed agriculture and mining to thrive despite security challenges.
The event concluded with a symbolic tree planting, a presentation of gifts to the CoAS by the Andoma of Doma, and a group photograph with dignitaries.
