Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Senator-elect Joe Ikpea and House of Representatives Member-elect Omosede Igbinedion on their victories in the Edo Central Senatorial and Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections held on Saturday.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo commended the electorate for turning out in large numbers to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates. He described the victories as a clear demonstration of the people’s confidence in the APC and their representatives.
“With this resounding victory, Edo State has sent a strong message ahead of 2027. The presidential election will be a walk-over for President Bola Tinubu in Edo,” the governor said. He expressed confidence that Ikpea and Igbinedion would provide effective representation, attract development, and give Edo Central and Ovia Federal Constituency the attention they deserve at the National Assembly.
The governor also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a credible election and applauded security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the exercise.
He further called on all stakeholders to support the newly elected lawmakers, while reaffirming his administration’s readiness to work with all elected officials, regardless of political affiliation, to advance Edo State’s development.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Edo State, I wish Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion a successful tenure. We look forward to fruitful collaboration that will bring positive change and prosperity to our State,” Governor Okpebholo stated.
