The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in recent operations aimed at tackling violent crime across the country. In coordinated efforts in Kebbi and Abia States, operatives rescued five kidnapped victims, neutralized five suspected kidnappers, and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.
According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in Kebbi State, operatives working with other security agencies and local vigilantes rescued three abducted villagers in Shanga Local Government Area following a gun battle with kidnappers in the Shanga Hills on July 27. Similarly, on August 15, two kidnap victims were freed during a routine patrol in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area. The victims, abducted earlier in Zamfara State, were safely reunited with their families.
In Abia State, operatives acting on credible intelligence raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Umuiku Obete Village, Ukwa West Local Government Area. The suspects engaged police in a gunfight but were overpowered, leaving five dead. Items recovered included six AK-47 rifles, 335 rounds of live ammunition, 14 magazines, and other weapons and operational gear.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the officers for their bravery and urged them to sustain the momentum in the nationwide fight against criminality. He reassured Nigerians of the Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
