FG reaffirms Tinubu’s commitment to fairness and equity in governance

The Federal Government has restated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains firmly committed to fairness, justice, and inclusivity in the distribution of federal projects, appointments, and opportunities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, dismissed recent insinuations of lopsidedness as “half-truths and misinformation,” noting that verifiable data and ongoing projects reflect equitable development nationwide.

According to the Minister, major infrastructure initiatives—including highways, bridges, rail, and power projects—are simultaneously progressing across the country, with funding secured for light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna (₦150bn and ₦100bn respectively), as well as metroline projects in Lagos and Ogun. Over 250,000 jobs are expected from these interventions.

The administration is also rehabilitating the Eastern rail corridor from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri and has upgraded more than 1,000 primary healthcare centres nationwide.

On project allocation, Idris disclosed that the Northwest received the largest share with ₦5.97 trillion (over 40% of approvals), followed by the South-South with ₦2.41 trillion, North Central ₦1.13 trillion, South East ₦407 billion, North East ₦400 billion, and South West ₦604 billion (excluding Lagos).

Flagship infrastructure projects include the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road, and the Trans-Sahara Highway, with 52% located in the North and 48% in the South. Other key projects span road rehabilitation, rail expansion, gas infrastructure, and power generation.

On federal appointments, the government emphasized that competence and inclusivity remain central to President Tinubu’s decisions, with all regions represented.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda is about national development, not sectional interests,” Idris said. “Under President Tinubu’s leadership, no part of Nigeria will be left behind.”
