Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have continued to make significant progress in the ongoing Operation EGWUA A TITE II, launched on 1 September 2025 to tackle banditry and other security challenges in Kogi State.
According to Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 12 Brigade Nigerian Army Lokoja Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, in one encounter at Tunga general area, troops of 126 Battalion, supported by Other Hybrid Forces (OHF), engaged bandits in a firefight, neutralizing two. Exploitation operations led by Brigade Commander and Force Commander Operation Accord III, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, resulted in the destruction of several bandits’ settlements, with intensified patrols and ambushes dominating the area.
On 2 September, acting on credible intelligence, troops with close air support from 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group launched an air combat mission at Ankomi, neutralizing several fleeing bandits.
In another operation on 3 September, troops of 126 Battalion conducted clearance operations in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities, rescuing one Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children, who have since been reunited with their family. Five locally made dane guns were also recovered.
Further successes were recorded on 5 September when troops engaged bandits at a hideout ahead of Tunga, where intelligence confirmed the neutralization of notorious bandit commander Kachalla Bala and five others. On the same day, troops, in collaboration with OHF, conducted a successful ambush along a suspected bandits’ supply route at Agbede–Adankoo Bridge (Mosalanci Boka), neutralizing a logistics courier and recovering a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine with 20 rounds of ammunition.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and security in Kogi State and adjoining areas, stressing that Operation EGWUA A TITE II continues to yield positive results.
