JOS – The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has called for sustained collaboration among Nigeria’s security agencies, stressing that national security requires collective action to counter emerging threats that transcend boundaries.
Speaking at the 2025 Air Provost Conference in Jos on Monday, Air Marshal Abubakar said the participation of sister security agencies underscored the “undeniable truth that national security is a collective responsibility.” He noted that challenges such as terrorism, banditry, and cybercrime “do not respect jurisdictional boundaries” and must therefore be tackled through a unified, multi-agency response.
The Air Chief reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration through intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and capacity building. He described the Air Provost as “custodians of discipline” and “guardians of installations,” highlighting their critical role in maintaining internal order and operational effectiveness.
To enhance Provost capability, Abubakar announced new measures, including the establishment of a forensic and digital crime laboratory at the Air Police Training Centre in Jos, the acquisition of new K9 units, and the recruitment of 100 Air Police personnel annually over the next five years. He also unveiled infrastructure upgrades at Provost formations and pledged intensified training in cyber warfare and digital forensics to secure the Air Force’s digital infrastructure.
The Air Chief expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to the NAF, while commending the Directorate of Air Provost for reviving the conference, last held seven years ago. He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to democracy, rule of law, and respect for civil authority.
Earlier, the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani, described the theme of the conference—Leveraging Technology, Collaboration, Capacity Building and Training for Enhanced AP Duties in a Dynamic Security Environment—as timely, aligning with the CAS’s philosophy of mission-oriented force development.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Secretary to the State Government Architect Samuel Jatau, praised the NAF and other agencies for sustaining peace in the state. The Air Provost Marshal, AVM JA Usman, also lauded the CAS for his support and strategic guidance, adding that the conference had strengthened the Directorate’s resolve to harness technology and foster collaboration.
The three-day event features paper presentations and interactive sessions linking theory with real-world security experiences, with contributions from retired and serving security experts, academics, and law enforcement leaders.
