NACOLM organizes graduation lecture on ethical leadership and sound administration for SLSOC 1/23

In a significant step towards promoting realistic training, human capacity development, and the upcoming graduation of the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) 1/23, the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) organized a Graduation Lecture. The event, titled ‘Ethical Leadership and Sound Administration in a Joint Environment,’ featured a compelling address by Major General DIO Ehiorobo (rtd). This distinguished lecture took place on September 25, 2023, at the prestigious TY Buratai Hall, located at the permanent site of NACOLM in Ojo, Lagos.

The lecture attracted a distinguished audience, including Major General PE Eromosele, the Commander of the Corps of Engineers (CCE) in the Nigerian Army (NA), who graced the event as the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH). Also in attendance were commandants of various military schools, commanders, and commanding officers within the Lagos general area, along with other senior officers from the Ojo Military Cantonment.

Brigadier General Wisdom Etuk, the Commandant of NACOLM, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He emphasized the rigorous training and comprehensive education that the graduating students had undergone during their 35-week stay at the College. He highlighted the lecture’s relevance, aligning it with the course’s objectives, aimed at producing better-trained officers equipped with the essential leadership skills and staff proficiencies.

General Etuk underscored the lecture’s primary goal, which was to remind the graduating officers of the imperative need to demonstrate ethical leadership qualities in the management of personnel and resources. The lecture aimed to instill high moral standards, accountability, and respect for the rule of law in these mid-level managers of the Nigerian Army.

General Etuk emphasized the timeliness and appropriateness of the chosen topic, which was carefully selected in accordance with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy. He expressed the College’s commitment to nurturing outstanding officers capable of competing effectively with their peers across various contexts.

Major General Philip Eromosele, in his remarks, expressed his delight at being part of this significant event. He commended NACOLM for organizing such an essential lecture and thanked the College for extending an invitation to him as the Special Guest of Honour. General Eromosele lauded the lecture’s enlightening content and praised Major General DIO Ehiorobo for delivering an outstanding presentation.

SGOH Eromosele emphasized the critical importance of ethical leadership and sound administration, particularly in the military, where the consequences of leadership decisions can significantly impact the security, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Nigerian Army. He urged the graduating officers to uphold the values of ethical leadership, always keeping in mind their duty to serve with honor, integrity, and accountability.

The Graduation Lecture marked a significant milestone in the journey of SLSOC 1/23 towards becoming leaders of exemplary character and competence in the Nigerian Army, reinforcing NACOLM’s commitment to producing outstanding officers.
