Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday paid a working visit to Diffa Region in the Niger Republic as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cross-border cooperation in the fight against insurgency around Lake Chad.
Zulum, who led a high-level security and economic delegation, was received by the Governor of Diffa, Brigadier General Mahamaduo Ibrahim Bagadoma, alongside other senior Nigerien officials.
Discussions between both leaders focused on joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and consolidating recent gains that have forced insurgents out of many former strongholds. The talks also explored strategies to safeguard displaced populations and enhance socio-economic recovery in affected communities.

The Borno governor revealed plans to take advantage of improved security conditions to facilitate the safe return of thousands of displaced farmers to fertile farmlands around Dutchi town in the Lake Chad basin.
Diffa, located just 17 kilometers from Damasak in northern Borno, currently hosts thousands of Nigerians displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Zulum was accompanied by Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan; Member of the House of Representatives, Engr. Bukar Talba; and other senior government officials.
