The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the death of its Edo State Commandant, Agun Gbenga.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Corps’ spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, on behalf of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, the late Commandant reportedly collapsed shortly after delivering a goodwill message at an event organized by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre in Benin City.

According to the statement, Gbenga was immediately rushed to the Military Base Hospital in Benin, where he was later confirmed dead.
Prof. Audi described the deceased as “an astute and iconic security expert who gave his best in service to the nation,” adding that his dedication, humility, and intelligence earned him great respect among colleagues.
“The NSCDC condoles with his family members at this critical time, knowing fully well that the death of Commandant Agun Gbenga is a monumental loss to the Corps and the nation at large,” Babawale stated.
He added that prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Commandant, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.
